Easter is fast approaching (though the weather would have you believe otherwise) and James Pendleton Estate Agents’ South West London team have been scouring the area for top seasonal family activities.  As spring begins to enliven green spaces and young faces alike, keep a look out for pastel colours, cute creatures and holiday activities at a park near you.  Alternatively, just take a quick look at our following top recommendations for Easter in Clapham, Wandsworth, Lambeth, Fulham and Battersea:

The wristband-entry theme park that is Clapham Common’s Easter Funfair attracts visitors for miles around and features rides and activities guaranteed to delight children and adults alike.  When you’re done enjoying the fair you’ll be able to walk off your candyfloss with a stroll around the Common.

Fulham Palace’s Easter Egg trail takes place on 30th March and 1st April and takes the form of a fun and informative children’s tour of the Palace with a chocolate reward at the end, all in one of the most beautiful settings in London.

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home will be joining the Easter fun by holding an egg hunt with a twist: the team will hide carob and catnip eggs inside the pens and release for pets to sniff out.  You can support the charity’s Easter cause by donating an egg.

A host more animal themed activities are set to take place at Battersea Park Children’s Zoo over the Easter break.  From 29th March to 1st April children and families are invited to search for colourful eggs hidden in animal enclosures with the promise of a sugary treat on completion. For the rest of the Easter break a Golden Rabbit hunt and animal feeding activities are bound to bring a smile to local children’s faces!

Wandsworth, Lambeth and Hammersmith and Fulham councils have a range of activities available for young people of all ages, and local web stalwarts mumsnet.com and nappyvalleynet.com will be on hand to advise on local events.  Whether interested in sport, craft or learning there is bound to be something for your child in South West London this Easter holiday!

Boma: Our recommended restaurant in Fulham & Parsons Green

Boma Restaurant Wandsworth Bridge Road

Boma Restaurant Wandsworth Bridge Road

A vibrant meeting place along the pretty Wandsworth Bridge Road Boma can be distinguished by its sunny terrace, elegant bar and friendly staff.

Popular with residents and the team at James Pendleton Estate Agents’ Fulham & Parsons Green office alike, Boma caters for all occasions from breakfast meeting to evening soiree and boasts a diverse and well researched list of wines and cocktails to suit every occasion.  What’s more, Boma is an active and enthusiastic contributor to local events and offers its clients a variety of exciting offers: currently visitors to Boma on Sunday or Monday night will receive 50% off their food bill with a new ‘BFF’ scheme!

We spoke to Kieran, the manager of Boma restaurant on Wandsworth Bridge Road, about life in Fulham.

  1. What’s your most important ethos at Boma?

We’ve turned away from the expensive and overcomplicated cuisine for a drinking and dining experience that is accessible to everyone. Informal yet refined.

2.  Could you tell us more about the inspiration behind your food and drinks menus?

The design of the menu is based upon crowd pleasing classics as well as what we love to eat ourselves. We change the menu with the season and source all our produce locally. As for drinks, we all love cocktails and wine so we try and target likeminded people with our offerings. They tend to go down a bit too well!

3.  What is your BFF scheme and could you tell us more about the special promotions you offer to your customers?

BFF – Boma Friend Forever – is a scheme we launched to reward our loyal customers after 2 years of business. A £2 donation to breast cancer research gets you a BFF key ring. This allows you to get 50% off your food bill on Sunday and Monday evenings from 6pm. No questions asked!

4.  Do you have a favourite Boma dish?

Starter wise, our hand dived scallops are always a winner and for mains, I struggle to choose between the steak tartare and the rack of lamb.

5.  How do you feel about working on Wandsworth Bridge Road and do you have any favourite local haunts?

I love Wandsworth Bridge Road. The community spirit is so locally driven and hard to find elsewhere in London. If I wasn’t involved in Boma, it would be without doubt the kind of place I’d frequent. However with bias aside, I’m a huge fan of Thaiphoon and The Greedy Buddha is also a wonderful example of Nepalese cuisine.

6.  Do you have a favourite Boma story / which event at Boma has gone particularly well?

Boma tends to make people do some pretty funny things. What happens behind our doors tends to stay there but there are always the moments we fondly like to recant. Inebriated girls designing their own cocktails around their friends nicknames, wine tasting evenings, live music nights and people dancing to Meat Loaf like there’s no tomorrow. All in a Saturday night on Wandsworth Bridge Rd!

Fybre Fitness Hub: Gym in Battersea Northcote Road

One of the hallmarks of a successful independent business is the union of good service and real character, both of which Fybre Fitness Hub gym in Battersea Northcote Road has in abundance. Read through the gym’s website and you will notice a real dedication to providing a bespoke fitness experience suited to each user’s needs and abilities; it’s easy to see why the gym is highly recommended by James Pendleton Estate Agents’ Battersea Northcote Road team. Moreover, Fybre Fitness Hub provides a wider and more innovative range of activities and experiences than the typical national chain. The gym’s extraordinary ‘swimpod’ allows users of all abilities to swim in a multi-sensory environment of their choice, while parent and child yoga, wellness weekends for women and hi spec cycle training equipment exemplify the outstanding range of choice offered to clients looking for a gym in Battersea.

We’ve asked owner Rus Harrison to tell us more about the motivations behind this unique gym on Northcote Road.

1.  What was your inspiration to set up Fybre Fitness Hub?

I developed the site on Northcote Rd over a period of 2 years and during the construction one of the many eureka moments was when I realised I had the chance to create the gym of my own personal dreams: a place on my doorstep and the antithesis of ‘corporate’, a bespoke and warm and friendly place, a fitness extension of everyone’s home.

2.  Could you tell us more about your Swimpod?

A gorgeous place to ‘escape’ the world outside, the Swimpod is yours for 30 minutes to 1 hour.  You are completely on your own and can swim or do water aerobics or just relax, all to the sound of your favourite music.

3. How have people responded to your parent and child focused programmes and activities?

Our kids’ yoga is full every Tuesday afternoon and we will soon be putting on more classes.  We also have a full class of mum and baby yoga classes….time to extend!!!

4. Do you have any special offers on at present?

Watch this space! (and our website!).

5. What fitness activities would you recommend to a beginner?

Definitely come along to a Zumba class!  It’s great fun and you ‘forget’ you’re exercising because you are completely focussed on the dance. The gym is totally geared towards those who are putting their toes in the water for the first time.  We will set you a goal programme perfectly suited to your fitness aspirations.

6. How do you find working on Northcote Road?

I love Northcote Rd…don’t we all!

7. Do you have any favourite Battersea haunts?

I love going to Wandsworth Common with my kids at the weekend….and dare I say I also enjoy a half a pint of Sambrooks in the Northcote! Hey, it’s not all about working out – you have to spoil yourself a little too!!

We spoke to Spa owner Faye Fasan about the Spa’s inspirations and influence.

1.  How have you settled in to your Fulham and Parsons Green neighbourhood and what are your impressions of the area?

The Chelsea Day Spa Boutique has really settled in well to SW6: it’s a lovely area to be in, with a wonderful community feel!

2.  What does your spa offer that sets it apart?

We pride ourselves on offering unique and exclusive ‘affordable luxury’ spa treatments performed by qualified therapists in a beautiful environment without compromising on quality, by using high grade, professional products.

3.  Which are your most popular treatments?

Our most popular treatments are our express New York Manicures (£17) and Pedicures (£23): high gloss, groomed nails in just 30 minutes; plus our signature: The Chelsea Day Spa Blow Dry, which costs just £15 for a wash, condition and blow dry (£5 extra for long hair).

4.  In your view, have perceptions of beauty therapies changed over time and in what way?

Perceptions have definitely changed. As most have become time poor, they are looking for the same results from their beauty and wellness regime without cutting corners. We have devised packages whereby treatments can be performed simultaneously, meaning the client can experience more treatments within a shorter time frame. During this tough economic time we have kept our prices at a highly competitive rate and have devised signature express treatments permanently set at an affordable value that last no longer than 30 minutes each. We feel clients are also looking for more results driven treatments and so offer various therapies including collagen boosting, cosmeceutical HydroPeptide facials, Darphin and  more to deliver this to them.

5.  What would be the perfect treatment or package to beat the winter blues?

HydroPeptide is a fantastic facial to help skin beat the winter blues. It’s utterly hydrating, nourishing and is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. This facial is packed with peptides to help boost the natural collagen levels in your skin so it is left feeling and looking more plump, healthy and with a natural glow for days to come. It’s also great for skin that has battled with harsh elements including the cold weather, wind and dehydrating central heating.

6.  Tell us something people are surprised to learn about what you do / about one of your treatments.

Most people are shocked at the affordable prices we offer at The Chelsea Day Spa! They are astonished that you can get a seriously good blow dry for just £15 and that with our New York Manicures and Pedicures you can choose from a great selection of shades by professional nail care brand Jessica for just £17 and £23 respectively.

7.  Which of your treatments do you feel best sums up the Fulham and Parsons Green area?

Including the express treatments previously mentioned, I would say that that non-invasive, top-to-toe glamorous grooming packages we offer best sum up the area. These quick fix treatments are incredibly popular and give our guests an instant beauty boost without too much time commitment without costing the earth. We offer strip and hot wax, brow shapes and tints, lash extensions and tints and of course manicures, pedicures and blow dries.
