For those living Between the Commons Gail’s Bakery will likely be a familiar sight – one of the London based artisan bakery’s stores has become a popular destination for bread lovers in the Northcote Road area. Those who’ve tried a Gail’s loaf will be excited to hear of the recent opening of a bakery at 71 Abbeville Road.

The first Gail’s Bakery was opened in 2005 in Hampstead by two Londoners and a team of bakers looking to introduce quality artisan bread to the neighbourhoods of the Capital. Since then, the team have opened branches across the city, including in Dulwich, South Kensington, Notting Hill and Chelsea.

The range of breads available is diverse but some regular features on the counter include a roasted garlic loaf, an olive sourdough and a traditional German rye bread. Some breads are available via Ocado as well as in store – but our team of estate agents in Clapham and Battersea recommend stopping by at your neighbourhood bakery for a browse accompanied by the smell of fresh baked goodies.

While traditional artisan loaves are Gail’s’ ‘bread and butter’ the bakery sites offer far more. The freshly baked breads are used as part of a hearty and delicious lunch and afternoon tea menu, while a great range of breakfast dishes (from healthy to naughty) and coffees make the bakery an excellent Sunday morning destination. You can visit for a morning latte or stop by during the afternoon school run for cake or brioche, and the menu contains a good selection of snacks suitable for those with a gluten intolerance.
