James Pendleton raise £125.85 on Christmas Jumper Day

IMG-20131213-WA0000

With the festive season well under way and trees lighting up front windows across London, 13th December saw large numbers of the city’s population head to work festooned in Christmas jumpers.  From muted to garish and from fashionable to deeply, deeply unfashionable, the range of woolly outfits on display certainly added colour to a chilly December Friday.

The team at James Pendleton Estate Agents, whose nine offices cover Clapham South, Fulham, Wandsworth, Clapham Common and Battersea, took part in Christmas Jumper Day with gusto.  Evidence of this can be found on the company’s Social Media platforms, which show a friendly office rivalry resulting in some truly spectacular creations.

Particularly striking was the offering of the estate agents’ New Homes office in Wandsworth Town, whose team managed to temporarily recruit none other than London Mayor Boris Johnson to star in their photos as he passed to introduce the new cycle ports which have now been installed throughout South West London.

Another fantastic photo came from the Property Management office in Clapham Old Town: team manager Simon Quinn took on the role of Santa for the day in the company of three reindeer and a very stylish elf.  The overall winner of Most Christmassy Jumper was Marion Fulton from the estate agents’ Clapham South office  whose handmade tinsel accessories earned her £50 John Lewis vouchers from Lee and Lucy Pendleton.

With Christmas around the corner and the days nearing their shortest the jumpers were a welcome cheerful addition to the calendar.  What’s more they raised money and awareness of the company’s charity initiative, LivetoGive, which supports Action for Children, Trinity Hospice and Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. The total raised on the day came to a fantastic £125.85 which brings the year’s total raised for LivetoGive to £4118.82, excluding the funds raised during Movember and on Jeans For Genes day.

“Our offices have once again done a fantastic job of heightening awareness of some incredible charities” said Managing Director Lucy Pendleton. “We’re very lucky to have an energetic and thoughtful team who continue year on year to invest time and care in the areas where they live and work”

Look out for a Christmas Jumper Day update on the company’s LivetoGive website and on this blog for upcoming South West London news updates.

Bellevue Fair 2013 a roaring success

Bellevue Fair is a local fixture in Wandsworth Common and is loved by local residents and visitors alike. The fair perfectly encapsulates the vibrancy and community spirit of this rather unique part of London.  Sandwiched between Tooting and Clapham Junction, both popular neighbourhoods in their own right, what’s surprising about the area surrounding James Pendleton Estate Agents’ Wandsworth Common office on Bellevue Road is its leafy tranquillity in such close proximity to the metropolis.

With wares ranging from food samples to books and crafts, the independent retailers along Bellevue Road created a one day market offering up the unique flavours of the neighbourhood.  Other local businesses such as James Pendleton, an award winning estate agents in Wandsworth, decided to provide the visiting public with a fun challenge ideal for a weekend family stroll.

The company, which markets properties for sale and properties to rent in Wandsworth and beyond, had great success in 2012 with a fast paced ‘Cash Cube’ challenge, and this year gave giant gaming a family twist with a scaled up version of board game favourite ‘Operation’.  Participants competed for cash prizes by removing ‘body parts’ including the infamous funny bone in the quickest time.  With a fun atmosphere (created by the James Pendleton team’s ‘surgical’ attire) and prizes awarded to children and adults alike, plenty of passers-by left the office smiling.

Bellevue Road is lined on one side with boutique style shops and pubs as well as Michelin starred restaurant Chez Bruce, while on the other side the Common stretches northwards.  For the 2013 Bellevue Fair the park played host to the Mayhew Animal Centre’s dog show, an ever popular attraction thanks to Wandsworth Common’s enormous popularity with dog owners.

The event, which ran from 10am to 6pm, culminated in a raffle drawn by popular TV property personality Phil Spencer.  The raffle prizes were contributed by businesses along Bellevue Road and formed an absolutely fantastic prize list including an unusual offer from James Pendleton Estate Agents’ Angel department.  One lucky winner will benefit from the department’s free and secure concierge service plus £250 towards home maintenance works.

Bellevue Fair’s giant Operation game: will you beat the clock?

James Pendleton Bellevue Fair Giant Operation

A sneak preview of James Pendleton’s Bellevue Fair Giant Operation game

The annual Bellevue Road Summer Fair is nearly upon us and promises entertainment, refreshments and excitement for all the family!  This year’s fair will take place on Saturday 7th September and local businesses along the picturesque local thoroughfare are busily setting up stalls which promise to make this year’s event particularly thrilling!  The team at James Pendleton Estate Agents’ Wandsworth Common office on Bellevue Road are no exception as this year they will be inviting local visitors to compete for a fantastic property prize in a scaled-up version of a challenging family favourite: Giant Operation.

A gigantic buzzer board game will be constructed outside the Estate Agents’ Wandsworth Common office on Bellevue Road for the duration of the day.  Visitors will have the chance to compete against their rivals and the clock in a contest that sees the person completing the challenge successfully in the quickest time walking away with an exciting prize!

The winner will receive a cash prize while runners up will walk away with bottles of bubbly.

Beside fun and games outside James Pendleton Estate Agents’ Wandsworth Common office there is a lot to keep visitors to Bellevue Fair occupied.  A dog show with special judge has been arranged to take place on the Common itself (to the delight of the area’s large dog walking contingent) and children’s fun centre Bertie and Boo will provide entertainment and a selection of local musicians will provide a perfect backdrop to stalls bustling with local wares.  For the celebrity spotters of Wandsworth, look out for property expert and television personality Phil Spencer who will be announcing the fair’s raffle winners.

James Pendleton’steam have provided a very useful money saving prize to the draw, allowing one lucky local to benefit from an ‘Angel for a day’, £250 worth of property maintenance costs covered by the company’s pioneering Angel department.  In short summary, this department is here to help homeowners by taking care of keys, organising home repairs and acting as an emergency point of contact, and the winner will be able to take advantage of the full service whether a property owner or not.  In addition the Angel department will recommend contractors for a range of jobs, on which the winner will save £250.

The company are delighted to be a contributor to the Fair, which has been carefully planned for several months by the Bellevue Road Residents’ Association.  The Association is made up of, and jointly run by, a number of local businesses and each month representatives including from James Pendleton Estate Agents’ Wandsworth Common team are able to have their say on how the local area operates.  Groups such as these do a huge amount for the community, representing local needs and using the power of numbers to make important changes.

A successful cycle ride for the LivetoGive team

IMG_2246

As fundraising teams go, James Pendleton Estate Agents’ South West London charity organisation LivetoGive is certainly active.  Since winning Trinity Hospice’s Best Charity Partnership with a Local Business award in December the team has plans aplenty in the pipeline and has organised a number of exciting events and initiatives in 2013 that you can discover here.

The latest of these was the long anticipated London to Brighton cycle ride, which saw ten representatives take to the streets on two wheels in the name of charity and raised a phenomenal £1657!  As ever, the team was fundraising for three causes with very strong local and company bonds: Action for Children, Trinity Hospice and Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.  These three charities hold very great importance for this Estate Agents’ South West London team and LivetoGive has proactive links with all three: the charity organisation holds regular meetings with all three with fundraising innovation in mind.

Sunday’s 54 mile journey passed through James Pendleton Estate Agent’s South West London base, leading through Clapham, Tooting and Wandsworth on its way to the M25 before breaking out into open countryside on the way to East Sussex’s most famous destination, sometimes known as ‘London-By-The-Sea’.  The route includes some formidable hill climbs as well as many spectacular views and in LivetoGive’s prior experience of the ride there is no greater feeling than catching a first glimpse of the sea at the end of a day’s cycling!

The team are glad to report no injuries and a relatively incident free cycle.  Differing levels of training and ability meant a staggered finish for the ten but all were delighted to spot heart shaped James Pendleton balloons scattered through the crowd, one of which made it to the finish line on the back of a tandem ridden by two Blues Brothers!  As the photos show the team had a fantastic time and as the fundraising totals show they were amply supported by friends, family and well-wishers!  The team send their thanks to all who donated; if you’d like to contribute just pay a visit to LivetoGive’s JustGiving page.

To find out more about the latest and upcoming LivetoGive initiatives keep checking James Pendleton’s homepage: this Estate Agents in South West London posts regular news and updates on their charity organisation’s activities.  Alternatively visit the LivetoGive website.

A fundraising success at the LivetoGive 2013 Pub Quiz

pub quiz

Wandsworth Town’s Royal Standard pub was on 27th March home to 2013’s LivetoGive Pub Quiz.  Organised by Wandsworth Estate Agents James Pendleton the quiz regularly brings in great support from locals and local businesses alike and is a much loved part of the LivetoGive fundraising calendar.

Along with several rounds of tricky general knowledge questions, this year’s quiz also comprised two special rounds: one specialising in events from the last decade and a ‘fun round’ on James Pendleton, both of which were included to mark the Wandsworth Estate Agents’ ten year anniversary. Quizzers were also treated to pizza supplied by Olivia Pizza on Wandsworth Bridge Road, a prize packed raffle and fun ‘Heads or Tails’ contest added to festivities.

The stupendous array of raffle prizes on offer was very kindly donated by local businesses, with Solicitors Emin Read providing a special contribution of £100 in cash to the winning team.  Other prize donors were:

Everyone who donated or took part made a great contribution to a very successful evening and the event raised an incredible total of £600 to be split between LivetoGive’s three charities.  The charity organisation’s administrative team of Wandsworth Estate Agents could not be more grateful for the kindness and generosity of all who attended and donated via JustGiving.

You can see more photos from the event on James Pendleton Estate Agents’ South West London Facebook page.

James Pendleton to help Wandsworth athlete fulfilling his Olympic dream

Aaron mcKibbin at JP websize

Wandsworth born and bred Table Tennis champion Aaron Mckibbin is set for great things: following a Bronze medal victory in the London 2012 Paralympic Games, he is now ranked 14th in the world and aims to reach the lower single digits by the next Games in 2016.  Aaron is a brilliant example of an inspirational Wandsworth resident and soon you will be able to catch up with his training news on a regular basis thanks to James Pendleton Estate Agents’ dedicated blog.

Born with bilateral talipes which affects his ankle mobility, Aaron’s skill, drive and sheer hard work have seen him transform from school lunchtime table tennis player to consummate professional in a few short years.  He describes his experience at the 2012 Games as perhaps the most incredible experience of his life:

“Usually we play in front of audiences of a few hundred people: I was one of the first to play at London 2012 and when my name was called thousands of people stood up and cheered for me as a member of the GB team.  I’ve never experienced anything like it”

The London Games redefined standards of Paralympic media coverage and increased global audience figures by a staggering 1 billion.  Suffice it to say that the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games have a lot to live up to, and that the Paralympics, and Aaron, had better get used to taking centre stage.

James Pendleton Estate Agents’ Wandsworth connections make the company the ideal sponsors for this local figurehead, and he can now be seen sporting James Pendleton branded kit at tournaments across the UK.  The company’s dedicated blog will feature videos, clippings and interviews with Aaron as he journeys toward Rio.

James Pendleton Estate Agents are absolutely thrilled to be helping a local talent with high Olympic hopes.

Keep a look-out for the latest news on Aaron on the James Pendleton website and email jpinfo@jphomes.co.uk for more info.
